Congratulations to all of our amazing children! We are so proud to announce that we have capped off an incredibly rewarding academic year with our first annual step up program at MOHDC SmartStart Nature Academy and Learning Center.
Parents, families, and well-wishers packed the auditorium to support the 19 preschoolers and four day care children on their special day. It was heartwarming to see the children arrayed in their little suits and dresses, and their elaborate hairstyles of braids, beads, curls, ponytails, and bangs. Their appearance was as grand as their performance, where they played the keyboard, recited poetry, sang songs, and used sign language to sign “God Bless America.”
The children returned after a brief intermission for the awards ceremony where they accepted their certificates and posed for photos. Later, the teary-eyed supporters congregated for the remainder of the event to recount the academic year, encourage one another, discuss the upcoming school year, and enjoy the finger food before heading out to celebrate with their children and enjoy the great weather.
We look forward to our second step up program next year. Our plan is to have a bigger and better program, and even have this year’s children come back to see their younger friends step up. Make sure your child is a part of the celebration!
